DESCRIPTION
This course focuses on the development and implementation of strategic planning for information systems in an organization. SPIS explores the understanding of Information Systems (IS) and Information Technology (IT) and their impact on business performance. It describes methodologies, methods, techniques, tools, and management frameworks to align strategies for IS and IT with business strategy. Beside that, SPIS analyzes strategic options of organization and new opportunities through innovative deployment of IT.
The deployment of IS/IT should be an integrated resource within the organization which contributes to the organization’s core competencies which may result in sustainable competitive advantage. This deployment should be inclusive in SPIS, and cannot be considered as a one-off or occasional event. It is a continuous sustained process, as we plan and re-plan and respond to changes in the business environment.

COURSE OBJECTIVES
At the completion of the course, student should learn the following:

• to understand the process of SPIS development;
• to understand process of SPIS development
• to explore the various approaches in developing SPIS; and
• to exercise the development of SPIS in the real world.
